Biography:
Matt Paquette was born and raised in San Diego. He was interested in Psychology and human motivation early on. That evolved into thoughts regarding the ability for biological beings ability to think and make decisions. He had great experiences in community college in Chula Vista, CA. Next, he moved to Santa Cruz for a year or so.
He then transferred to UC Berkeley and took a cognitive neuroscience class, and was hooked. He worked on an aging EEG project in the Robertson Lab with exciting neural and behavioral differences across age groups. In his final year of college Matt worked with David Badre in the D’Esposito Lab on a behavioral / fMRI project looking at PFC organization by varying task complexity. Matt graduated from UC Berkeley in June 2006.
Next, Matt then met with the Adam Gazzaley via Mark D’Esposito. He was quickly hired as a research associate and the lab manager. Mr. Paquette’s current project is an fMRI / EEG / TMS version of the MAP experiment. This project is looking at the role of the MFG in the enhancement and suppression of task relevant or irrelevant information, respectively.
Due to his technical skill with EEG Matt collaborates on many of the projects in the lab, including but not limited to, mental imagery and the anticipation of either known or unknown stimuli.
In his spare time Matt enjoys hiking, especially in Yosemite and the California coast, as well as bicycling, in San Francisco and longer trips between SF and Santa Cruz. Working on his ’67 BSA Victor motorcycle, and riding his new Triumph motorcycle.
